My GTA San Andreas Mods

GTA San Andreas is the game I've almost certianly played the most of. And for 8 years now, I've been interested in "lore-friendly" vehicle mods for it. I've been in various modding communities since I was 13, but only in 2020 with the help of tutorials by TheMadeMan and direct help from XG417 and others was I able to start making them myself. Not being stuck using ZModeler and instead using Blender is what made it feasible for me, ZModeler is fucking awful. I think I'm pretty good at it now. I've not finished as many projects as some other people, I only get sporadic motivation to work on mods, which goes for anything I do really. Currently I have 4 active projects. I have a workshop on GTAForums, here.

Vehicles

This list goes in chronological order.

'92 Yankton

This was the first mod (and my first from scratch 3d model) I ever made. A solid start, I think. I'll remake it someday. It's based on a Dodge Dakota.

'92 Gnat

The Geo Metro is an icon of 90s traffic and a personal favorite car of mine that hadn't been made for San Andreas so it was inevitable I'd make one. The name Gnat is a reference to the Hot Wheels casting "Super Gnat". The screenshot is of the updated version I released in 2025, the original version was released in 2022 and I wasn't happy with it looking back. More info. ← this will be another page when I get to it.

Hakumai Pack

Heavily edited LOD of the Hakumai from GTA IV. I only left the shell untouched besides redoing the arches. The interior, doorjams etc were all redone from scratch. I made a bunch of unique bodystyles for it after finishing the sedan, all based on real versions of the Accord besides the wagon, which didn't exist on that gen. This gen of accord has a special place in my heart because it was in Rigs of Rods, which was one of my favorite games as a kid. I need to go back and do some fixes on it but with all the variants I don't really feel like it. Still better the majority of HD era demakes.

'69 Critter

This is a Honda CT70, I made it because my dad had one for years. It was my first model just made from a side view and not using blueprints. It's not really "lore" but I think that matters less with a bike. I did slightly update recently, but it was solid from the start. Originally released alongside Hakumai.

'77 Defiant

This is based on the Lamborghini Cheetah, a vehicle I'm aware of both from an old Rigs of Rods mod and the Tomica diecast. Did a lot of small details on this including a shovel & axe on the military spec, a Geneva-convention violating medkit + fire extinguisher in the interior and "4x4 Power" mudflaps as an extra. Driving around off-road in San Andreas is something I really enjoy, between this and Critter I've probably driven around Mount Chillad for at least 10 hours. This was named after the Star Trek ship of the same name from DS9. The front design was somewhat inspired by the Hot Wheels Gulch Stepper, which oddly enough someone made in SA Style recently. The wheels were modeled off the Dune's beta wheel texture.

Hendrickson Paymaster

I got fixated on this truck in 2023 and modeled it not long after putting it in my list of mod ideas. It's been in development hell for two years now, after deciding to make it unlore I stalled working on it because this truck is very obscure and I don't have any photos of the rear besides the prototype versions and the landspeed record truck both of which are quite different. I'm not even sure if it has an exhaust stack or if the one with the intake on the top is the exhaust somehow. This is likely the only 3d model of this truck ever made, which is why I didn't do any design changes. I modeled it from a side view of the cab, I think its a step above the models I did before it. I'll probably finish up a few details it's still missing and release it, I'll go back and change it if I get more references and make at least the version with extra cab aero as well. The "Ye Olde Dragon" landspeed record version would be cool but the engine + livery are kind of intimidating I'm not sure I could do it well.

Pheasant Camper

This was my first new project after I hadn't modeled anything for two~ years. This is a Roadrunner camper, my dad bought and restored one when I was a kid and we had it for awhile. I actually modeled it off of photos of that one. Currently unfinished, I want to make a version with an interior. It's probably overdetailed but the basic shape is so simple it kind of needs to be. Crazy to me nobody had made a SA style camper trailer before this outside of edited props.

Vergence

This was made on a complete whim, its based on the covered car prop found in Local Low Co. I saw that prop in the background of a screenshot someone posted, found the model and messaged a friend wondering what it would look like as an actual car, and ended up with this. I think its not quite as good as some of my other models, but its a bit limited by its basis. My idea for the "lore" of it is that its a one off custom car that was being painted at Local Low Co and abandonded there when the creator got arrested.

Rowel

This isn't ready to show off yet, but I think it will be my best mod to date.
